YORKSHIRE CANCER RESEARCH

Company background

Yorkshire Cancer Research is the largest independent regional cancer charity in England. The charity funds vital cancer research and pioneers innovative new services for people with cancer. These life-giving medical breakthroughs are helping more people survive cancer in Yorkshire, and beyond.

Yorkshire is one of the regions hardest hit by cancer. Every week in Yorkshire, 600 people are told they have cancer. People are more likely to be diagnosed with cancer in Yorkshire than in most other parts of England and, tragically, too many people die. Yorkshire Cancer Research exists to change this.

The brief

To help them deliver on their long-term goals, Yorkshire Cancer Research wished to appoint a new member to its Board of Trustees, providing the opportunity to volunteer for the charity alongside an impressive list of fellow Trustees to help improve the lives and outcomes of people with cancer. Candidates for the role had to be suitably qualified with a strong affinity to both the cause and the Yorkshire region.

Led by search consultant James Searby, Directorbank sourced a number of excellent candidates resulting in two successful appointments, Yorkshire residents Peter Southby and Amy Hacker.

The result

Peter is the CFO of the EMIS Group, the leading provider of innovative healthcare technology to more than 10,000 organisations. Amy is a hands-on business consultant with deep experience in strategy, value creation and finance having operated at senior leadership and c-suite level in corporate, private equity and advisory environments.
